Statton makes the step up!

Oxford City Stars are pleased to announce the signing on Jagger Statton for the remainder of the season.

Jagger had contacted the club in the summer, but with both import spots filled we pointed him in the direction of the NIHL2 team, the Oxford rising stars.

With Jakub Klima having to step away from hockey for personal reasons, an import slot has opened up. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Klima for his contribution to our club and he departs with our best wishes.

We would also like to thank the Rising Stars for their support in allowing Jagger to step up with us, it shows the collaboration we are building together for the wider vision of ice hockey in Oxford.

Head coach Simon Anderson had this to say: “We are excited to add Jagger to our roster. We have been looking for the right guy to replace Klima who has unfortunately had to step away from the game for personal reasons for a little while now.

We kept an eye on Jagger whilst playing in our NIHL2 development team and we have also had him out to practice with us a few times these last few weeks and we just felt he was the right fit.

He fitted in with our group right off the bat, he has a high hockey IQ, is a strong skater and more importantly he is comfortable playing both Defence and Forward, which is obviously is a major plus for us.

We are really looking forward to seeing him pull on the Stars jersey, starting this weekend.”

Jagger added “I am very excited to be joining the City Stars! I am looking forward to competing at a high level with a competitive team and playing in front of a big crowd every home game!

I believe that with this team we are going to make a deep playoff run at the end of this season and upset a number of teams on the way.”
