lawday returns!

Forward Matt Lawday has re-signed for Oxford City Stars.

The 31-year-old signed up for his fifth campaign at the club. Lawday who has scored 65 in 111 appearances for the Stars “cannot wait” to wear the club jersey again.

Lawday said: “I’m very much looking forward to coming back to Oxford. After speaking with Simon and Shane the decision was easy. The direction in which they and the directors are taking the club is all positive. It’s going to be a fun season and I think the fans will like some of the changes. I cannot wait to wear once again Yellow and Blue and see the fans.”

Head coach Simon Anderson said: “I’m pleased to get Matt back for next season. Goal scoring is an area we need to improve on for next year and signing Matt will help us in our quest for improvement in that area.

“He scored 12 goals last season in what was a tough league and a challenging time for the club and I'm sure he will be looking to improve on that tally. Matt has a knack of finding areas on the ice where he is hard to pick up and his quick release and accuracy of his shot is a natural skill that he has in his locker.

“I’m excited to have Matt pull on the Stars Jersey and work with him again.”
