We are thrilled to announce the re-signing of talented local defenceman, Tom Ravenscroft!
Tom has been a part of the stars family now since the 19/20 season, and is a highly respected member of the team from other players and coaching staff alike. Last season Tom stepped up during a couple of games and took on the captaincy, which shows just how highly thought of he is. His season was cut short last year due to injury, but his off ice dedication has put him in a great position ahead of the coming season. Rave's has been an integral part on the blue line since joining the team a few years back. Known for his unwavering dedication, he have become a fan favourite and a true cornerstone of Oxfordshire's Premier Ice Hockey Team. Throughout their tenure with The Oxford City Stars, Tom has consistently showcased has exceptional talent, becoming a stalwart defender capable of shutting down opponents' top lines. On top of that, his leadership qualities have played a significant role in guiding the dressing room. Simon Anderson, Head Coach of the Oxford City Stars commented: "I am really happy to have Tom return for next season.He has become part of the furniture at Oxpens since his first year in in 2019.
He has a good understanding of the game, skates well is always in good shape and takes his hockey very seriously. These are the types of attributes I want and demand from my players and so I'm looking forward to seeing Tom develop further, which I am sure he will do by working with the quality of Dmen we have brought in this summer."
Tom had this to say: I couldn’t be happier to be back in Oxpens this season. I’ve now been apart of Oxford since I was 18 and can honestly say I love both the club and supporters. Having been injured for the last part 2022/23 campaign, I can’t wait to get started again and head into this season as strong as possible!"
The management, coaching staff, and fellow teammates are undoubtedly elated to retain Tom and his return provides stability and a sense of security to the team's defensive unit.
