Cooking up a storm!

Oxford City Stars can confirm D-Man Chris Cooke has re-signed for the 2022/23 season.

The experienced defenceman has put pen to paper to commit to his second season at the Stars.

Cooke, 27, appeared for the Stars 27 times last season and is looking forward to returning.

He said: “Last season was a challenging one with a lot of turbulence and it proves Stars fans are the best in the league.

“After speaking to Simon, Shane and the directors it is clear there is a lot of work behind the scenes in building a strong, competitive squad. I want to be a part of that and I didn’t hesitate to sign and push for some success.”

Head coach Simon Anderson said: “Chris was always going to be one of my first calls. He is hugely experienced and a guy I have tried to sign on numerous occasions but could never quite get him.

“I’m so happy to have him pull on the yellow jersey again. Chris is a reliable and legitimate number one defenceman in this league. He plays a smart game and will help us in all situations.

“He will also play a massive part off the ice as part of our leadership group and I’m excited to have him in board.”

Cooke has previously played for clubs including Guildford Flames, Streatham, Basingstoke Bison and Bracknell Hornets.
