captain fantastic returns!

Captain Dax Hedges has re-signed for Oxford City Stars.

The Oxford born forward said “I couldn’t see myself at any other club” after committing to the Stars for the 2022/23 campaign.

Hedges who retains the captaincy will compete in his 15th season for the Stars this year.

The 32-year-old said: “When I got the call from Simon it was a no brainier to put pen to paper. I couldn’t see myself at any other club.

“The boys in the room to the fans in the stands are the best in league.

“It was a tough disjointed season last year, but we showed what we are capable of at points in the season. We

finished the season playing more consistent, fun hockey.

“Simon and Shane are doing some great recruiting and building a strong squad. It’s going to be a tough competitive league this year and I’m looking forward to getting back to it. Can’t wait to see you all again in couple months.”

Head coach Simon Anderson said: “It was a massive priority of mine to bring Dax back. He is a great guy and a leader of men and that's why he will continue as Captain next season.

“Dax brings us a strong presence in the face-off circle and plays a solid two-way game. He always plays bigger than his small stature and is never afraid to stick up for his teammates when needed.

“He also chips in offensively and we will be looking for him to do that again and be effective at both ends of the ice. I’m really looking forward to coaching Dax again.”
