Stones Jets In To Oxford

The Oxford City Stars are proud to confirm their first signing of the 2025/26 campaign, Brandon Stones, from the NIHL1 North side Hull Jets. The 32 Year Old Netminder becomes Mark Saunders' first signing for the Stars ahead of the new campaign and fills a position that was heavily sought after.

Brandon has accumulated a wealth of experience over the years and has played at multiple levels of English Ice Hockey which will be key to the Stars team going forward. Brandon was most recently at the Hull Jets, but has prior experience with the Sheffield Scimitars in the NIHL1 North after a 3 season stint with the National League side Milton Keynes Lightning. Brandon was also a part of the 2017-18 NIHL1 League winning side, Sheffield Steeldogs.

Brandon said this about signing for the Stars: "I am really looking forward to the new season joining the City Stars for this upcoming year.

I got a call from Mark a few weeks ago after he had learned that I was relocating down south this summer and looking for a new team. NIHL1 South is the only league in England I haven’t had the opportunity to experience so far in my career and I’ve always heard great things about the league down here and its fans so I’m looking forward it!

I know there are some big shoes to be filled in the Netminding department this season and I hope to do that by bringing a wealth of experience to the position from my previous experiences over all the divisions in UK hockey. I’m hoping to skate with the team throughout the summer, and form a new bond and understanding with the boys and be ready and rearing to go come September.”

Mark Saunders noted this on the capture of his first signing:

"I’m absolutely delighted to be bringing Brandon in this season to fill our starting netminder spot. He has a wealth of experience at every level of hockey in the country and that is going to be invaluable to us this season as we endeavour to make big strides towards our goals for the 25-26 campaign.

From speaking with Brandon, he’s got a great energy to him, is really looking forward to getting started and wants to make a big impact on the southern division this season and I’m looking forward to working with him.

Welcome to Oxford!”
