Oxford City Stars will broadcast its matches live online as part of an innovative pilot scheme to enhance the club’s reach.
The club has partnered with online sports broadcaster OXSO and TicketCo Media Services to live streaming home fixtures.
It is offered to serve home and away fans who are not able to travel to matches at Oxpens.
Matches are being offered to watch live online thanks to the support of OXSO, owned by broadcaster Andrew ‘Selfy’ Self, who has commentated on the Stars for years. It is being offered to ice hockey fans on a trial basis to establish whether it can be made sustainable to continue broadcasting.
Streaming passes are available to buy now for the Stars home game on Sunday v Solent Devils. Streaming passes are £6 each.
Oxford City Stars’ director Greig Box Turnbull said: “We’re excited to offer hybrid ice hockey matches so people can both watch games in person and online. We obviously want to pack out the rink every week, but we are also mindful there are people who can’t always travel to matches and this caters for them.
“A big thank you to OXSO for making this possible, there is a level of on-going investment to cover to make it sustainable, so we are appealing to people to get behind this pilot scheme and help make it a success.”

Andrew Self of OXSO said: “We are taking our matchday production to the next level and it is a big opportunity to build something special for the Stars and ice hockey. Streaming offers people who cannot attend matches the opportunity to watch games live and be connected to the action.
“This is new territory for us and it will require refining and support to help us make it a permanent part of the Stars’ matchday.”
