OXFORD CITY STARS STRENGTHEN DEFENSE WITH SIGNING OF BEN NETHERSELL

Oxford City Stars is excited to announce the recent signing of defenseman Ben Nethersell, a dynamic and skilled defenceman who brings a wealth of experience from the National League.

The 25-year-old right-handed defenseman is set to make an immediate impact on the Stars' defensive lineup.

Nethersell joins Oxford City Stars after a successful stint in the National League with the Swindon Wildcats, demonstrating his prowess as a smooth-skating and playmaking defenseman. His addition to the team is expected to bolster the defensive unit and contribute to the overall strength of the squad.

Simon Anderson, Head Coach at Oxford City Stars, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition: "I am really excited to finally bring Ben back to Oxpens Road.I signed him as an 18 year old 7 years ago on loan from Swindon Wildcats. From the time he went back to Swindon I have followed Ben's career and he had a really successful 8 year spell there, developing his game to a very high standard.

In the summer I was made aware that Ben would be looking to take a step back in his hockey commitments and we spoke, but Ben wanted to just take some time out to concentrate on other aspects of his life.

We have kept in contact throughout that time and with us looking to make some changes,I am delighted that Ben has agreed to come in and help us here in Oxford.

He has unbelievable hockey smarts and makes the game look easy. He will bring an element of poise on our back end and this will enable us be better exiting our own zone and enable us to improve our transition game and special teams situations

He skated with us for the first time last week and the boys were excited with the quality Ben brings and all wanted him onboard. Its great to get this deal finally done."

Ben Nethersell had this to say about joining the City Stars "

Im really happy to have signed back in Oxford. It’s been a while since I last played here. After speaking with Simon I was excited to come and skate with the boys. It’s a good group of guys and I’m looking forward to see what we can achieve over the next couple months. "
