The Oxford City Stars announce a farewell to stalwart netminder Ross Miller as he announces his decision to leave the club.
Miller joined the Stars in 2019/20 season and has been with the Stars for the past six years, making over 100 appearances, after becoming an instant fan favourite for his outstanding netminding abilities. Ross' impact was noticeable from the off with his sharp reflexes and dazzling saves, in which many a game was made more competitive by his efforts. Ross leaves the club having amassed Fan's Player of the Season x3, Coaches Player of the Season x1 and Player's Player of the Season x1, truly showing the impact he had on not just the fans, but the organization as a whole.
Ross had this to say upon his departure: "A huge thank you for this season, despite it being one of our tougher seasons, it has still been incredible to see how many people come down and support the club. It truly not gone unnoticed at player and management level. A personal thank you for the last 6 years / 5 seasons and it has been a massive part of my life but I have decided to leave the club for the upcoming season, it is one of the toughest, if not the toughest Hockey decision in my life. The club is in very capable hands with Jo and Mark, some of the best people I have met in Hockey. " Coach Saunders had this to say :
“Ross has been an integral part of the City Stars far before my tenure as coach started, and this season showed just why that is.
He was a huge part of the teams progress, and although results didn’t turn the way we’d hoped, his performances and compete level was rightly the envy of the league. His Allstar selection showed how revered he is amongst his peers, which in turn leads to attention from other clubs.
Lengthy conversations were had with Ross around the upcoming season, and his decision to move on from the City Stars goes with our very best wishes for the next steps in his career. On behalf of the whole club, thanks for your incredible efforts over the past few seasons.”
