Matt Lawday Commits to Oxford City Stars with Contract Extension

The Oxford City Stars, the professional ice hockey team of Oxfordshire is delighted to announce the contract extension of long term player, Matt Lawday. Known for his dedication, and on-ice smarts, he has committed his future to the team, securing his pivotal role in leading the Stars this coming season.

Matt Lawday has been an integral part of the Oxford City Stars family for several seasons, contributing significantly to the club in that time. As a key forward for the Stars, Lawday has consistently displayed skill, agility, and game-changing plays that have often turned the tide in favour of the team.

Speaking about the contract renewal, Simon Anderson, head coach of the Oxford City Stars, expressed his excitement, saying,

"Matty is a consistent performer at this level and has been for many years. A really dependable guy who brings his best every night and is a fantastic guy in the room. You know as a coach that Matty will score double figures every season and he has the ability to be your top goalscorer or a solid secondary scoring guy and I felt we just had to have him return to help us climb the table this year. I'm expecting a big year from Matty and I know he won't disappoint."

Matt himself had this to say: "Im excited to be back for another season. After the birth of my son, I wasn't sure if I was returning but because of the support from my family and speaking to Simon it was an easy decision.

The team Simon is putting together looks promising. 7th place last season wasn't good enough and I cannot wait to help the team climb the table this year. I just want to thank the fans for always turning up home and away bringing the noise, it's a massive part of the game and I know the boys feed from the energy.

See you all soon, roll on September!!!" Matt's jerseys are now available for Own and Loan on the website, which is just £100 for one shirt, or £150 for both! to get both for £150, please use code lawday50.
