Hounsome set to rock oxpens

Oxford City Stars are excited to announce the capture of talented forward James Hounsome, who joins Oxfordshires Premier Ice Hockey team after a short stint with Swindon Wildcats 2 last season. The 24yr old was forced to commit to the NIHL2 in Swindon last season, after a last minute change to his circumstances late in the summer. The 6'4 power forward posted 16 goals in 13 games last season, and is known as a big, physical forward, who plays a calming, simple game. He's a smooth skater with good hands and comes with experience from the US, Canada, and all levels including the elite league here in the UK. Shane Moore, Head of Hockey Operations at the City Stars had this to say about the signing:

"I'm really pleased to bring Hounsome over to Oxford, I've followed his career for a while and I think he can offer a lot to us here in Oxford. I have spoken with former coaches and team mates, and have heard nothing but good things about him. When I knew he was heading back over this way from Essex late last summer, I tried to sign him, but circumstances didn't allow us to get a deal done, so he was a target of mine this summer. He's a big, strong forward that can seriously play. He has a good background in hockey, and is a very dedicated player. He puts up regular points wherever he plays and is low on penalties also. I'm predicting a big year for him this season and expect him to be an exciting fan favourite for our fans here at Oxpens Road. James added: "I'm really excited to get going with the squad for the season, I’ve only ever been on the away bench when I’ve played at Oxford and the fans have always created a great atmosphere. It will be fantastic to have them cheer for me this season though rather than making my life difficult! It feels great to be back playing NIHL 1 again this season after having to drop down to NIHL 2 just before the season started last year. I’m looking to entertain the fans and make the ticket they paid for worth it. I can only see good things ahead of us this season from I’ve seen coming through from Simon and Shane" Jerseys are now available for Own and Loan on the website, but be quick, bound to be a fan favourite this season! Own and Loan is just £100 for one shirt, or £150 for both!
