fans will make the difference

Stars’ forward Joe Edwards appealed to supporters to pack out Oxpens this Sunday, following a positive weekend on the road.

Edwards picked up back-to-back man of the match performances and weighed in with four goals as the Stars pushed champions Streatham all the way and beat MK Thunder 4-2.

He hailed the team’s performances and said everyone is looking forward to Sunday when the Stars host high flying Slough Jets at Oxpens.

Edwards said: “We knew it would be a tough weekend of hockey on the road. We put a good, structured performance in against Streatham and we were both missing some bodies. We aimed to win the 3rd to take the momentum into Sunday which exactly what happened.

“We started strongly with 2 goals in the first 2 shifts at MK, which was exactly what we needed to keep them at arms’ length. It was a good away win in the end, but all thoughts are with Millsy as he recovers from the injury he picked up.

“This weekend will be a big test; Slough are well drilled and can skate consistently all night.

“Our home rink and loud fans will make the difference in this fixture along with us playing for a full 60 minutes the way we know we can. It would be great if we could fill the rink and make some noise. See you Sunday!”
