Oxfordshire’s Premier Ice Hockey Team is ecstatic to announce the return of a true club legend, Dax Hedges, ahead of the 23/24 NIHL 1 season.
With great excitement, we unveil the news that Dax Hedges, a name synonymous with ice Hockey in oxford, will once again don our beloved stars jersey. Dax's skills, leadership qualities, and deep connection to our club make his return a momentous occasion for both the team and our dedicated fans.
Dax Hedges has long been a staple with ice hockey in Oxford, and is known for his offensive prowess, grit and determination, which have made him a firm fan favourite in Oxpens Road. He is always one of the most liked guys in the room and inspires his teammates throughout his illustrious career. His on-ice contributions, combined with his unwavering dedication and genuine love for the game, make him a true legend in every sense of the word.
The decision for Dax to return to the City Stars is a testament to the strong bond he shares with the team and the city of Oxford. Having taking home the awards for Players Player, and Coaches Player of the season and the end of season awards, speaks volumes of the person he is above and beyond his on-ice abilities. Dax said of his return: “I'm glad to be signing for Oxford again. I really couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else. I'm excited as always to get back on the ice with the boys and I'm looking forward to having another competitive season and seeing if we can push to get a bit further up the table this coming season. I can't wait to get started and see you all at oxpens come September..” Head Coach Simon Anderson concluded:” Anyone who knows about Ice Hockey in Oxford knows the name Dax Hedges. I’ve worked with him for many years now, and he’s a natural leader on and off the ice. It was an absolute no brainer bringing Dax back to Oxpens for the upcoming season.Dax is a heart and soul team first guy,someone who leads by example and will always be the captain of this team whilst I am the Coach.
His compete levels are off the charts night in and night out,he plays on the edge and comes up with huge parts of the game that can be momentum swingers,whether it's a big hit,winning puck battles,dropping the gloves or a crucial goal,Dax brings the lot. I'm delighted to have him back."
